Sugar Plum Fairy

Being able to perform in Academy of International Ballet’s, “The Nutcracker” for the past 10 years has been a wonderful experience each and every time. The Nutcracker was the first ballet I had the chance to perform in and I was first caste as a little girl in the party scene. The combination of the beautiful costumes and music always left me in awe as I would watch in the audience during the second half of the show. However, what really made this ballet so magical for me, were the incredible dancers playing the lead roles- I wanted to be just like them. I decided to devote the remainder of my free time after school to ballet and in fourth and fifth grades I was cast as Clara. I remember receiving the phone call a little while after the audition and I honestly could not contain my excitement, I was filled with joy.

Five years later, I felt a similar rush of excitement when I found out I was cast as Sugar Plum Fairy with Alex Babayev, who is a Soloist with the Pennsylvania Ballet, as Cavalier in this year’s Nutcracker performance. For many months, the amazing teachers at Academy of International Ballet have prepared me for this role and I could not be more thankful for everything they have taught me, making me both a better dancer and a better person. Being able to perform in the Nutcracker year after year has given me more than I have ever realized now that I reflect upon it. I have made countless friendships, learned how to push my limits, and to work as a team with others. This amazing school has left an imprint on me that will last a lifetime.

Chloe is a student who won many prizes, awards and scholarships from many International Ballet Competitions.
