From an Angel to the Sugar Plum.

As far back as I can remember, the months of September, October and November have been busy rehearsing for the Academy of International Ballet’s production of the Nutcracker. Whether I was an Angel, a Polishinel or part of the party scene it was always fun and exciting to be part of the Nutcracker shows. In fourth grade, I was cast as Clara and I remember sitting on stage and watching the more experienced dancers and professionals dance the roles of Arabian, Snow, Russian, Marleton, Dew Drop and Sugar Plum. I was thrilled and excited to be Clara, but I remember thinking about which roles I would like to dance someday. Six years later, I have had opportunities to dance Arabian, Dew Drop, Russian and now this year, I am thrilled and honored to be dancing the role of Sugar Plum with Aleksey Babayev who is an alumni of Academy of Int'l Ballet and now dancing as a Soloist with the Pennsylvania Ballet. Every step of the way, Denis and Anastasia have been there teaching each new role and
pushing me to be a better dancer. It has been hard work and has required dedication but the reward has been the opportunity to dance roles that only six years ago I wished I could dance someday. Thank you AIB!!!!!
