POINTE

We have pointe classes from beginner to advance levels (to take this class, MUST take ballet classes)

CONTEMPORARY

In terms of the focus of its technique, contemporary dance tends to utilize both the strong and controlled legwork of ballet and modern dance's stress on the torso, and also employs contact-release, floor work, fall and recovery, and improvisation characteristic of modern dance. Unpredictable changes in rhythm, speed, and direction are often used, as well. It sometimes also incorporates elements of non-western dance cultures such as elements from African dance including bent knees, or movements from the Japanese contemporary dance.

JAZZ (JUNIOR AND SENIOR)

Typically the style of dance you see on Broadway, concerts or television. Students warm up with stretching, isolations, strengthening exercises, and "across the floor" exercises such as turns and leaps. The class ends with a combination that is usually fast-paced and danced to popular music. Jazz shoes are optional; socks or bare feet acceptable.

CHARACTER DANCE

is a specific subdivision of classical dance. It is the stylized representation of a traditional folk or national dance, mostly from European countries, and uses movements and music which have been adapted for the theater. Character dance is integral to much of the classical ballet repertoire. Character shoes required.

BOYS CLASSES
